For Lincoln's 1st Birthday we had a Very Hungry Caterpillar themed party. I served all of the food from the book. I even had broccoli to represent the leaf, gummy worm candy as the caterpillar {which were the kids favorites}, and butterfly crackers.
We tried to keep it kind of small, but by the time we invited all the family and a few close friends we are at 40+ people. My dad, aka Grandpa Fitzgerald, was even here for the celebration!

The cake was nothing like the idea I had in my head. It was supposed to be a caterpillar, but I didn't want to do fondant because it wouldn't be as fun for him to make a mess with so I had to make a special dairy-free frosting and it was very soft and I didn't add enough red food coloring so it just looked like a pink cake. Oh, and I didn't really have a plan for his face since I was originally planning on fondant so I just used marshmallows for his eyes and nose and left it at that. Birthday cake FAIL!
{oh well}

Grandma Dansby, Grandma Smith, and Grandma Bunting

He wasn't very interested in his presents. I felt like I was having a baby shower because I opened all of his presents by myself. He got a lot of clothes, which he needed, so I can understand why he wasn't too excited about it.
