Just couldn't wait...

I know there are a BAZILLION other things I need to blog about before this, but I just couldn't wait to show my Aunt. What do you think, Aunt Debbie? I decided to put it here instead because of what you said about being able to read the recipe while I am cooking...it barely fit, but I think it works.

So many of you are probably wondering what exactly is the story with this menu board. Well here it is: David and I were antique shopping about 3 years ago when we first moved into the house and found this cool menu board that used to belong to the Tam O'Shanter and we just had to buy it. {I think it was around $15} Well, after sitting in our garage for all these years, it finally got done. I made half of it chalkboard so I can write the "special of the day" and the bottom half is a bulletin board so I can pin up the recipe. I forgot to take a before picture, but it was just old, ugly painted wood underneath.

I also made this magnet board a while back for my office to help me stay organized. I am ALL ABOUT making things to help me feel organized!

A brief overview

I really need to write and post pictures of all the fun we have been having lately, but for now I will just give a readers digest version of what's been going on with us.

David has been working steady for almost 2 weeks now. Things seem to go a lot smoother around here when David is working. This might be because we are able to pay for all of our expenses, which is a good thing. I also seem to get into more of a routine when David is gone because I can just do my own thing and I don't have to worry about coordinating schedules with him. Although it is nice having him home all the time so he can help with the kids, but I seem to manage just fine when he is gone.

I put up my Fall (& some Halloween) decorations and I am L-O-V-I-N-G my house right now! I love being home this time of year just so I can sit and look around my house and think about how much I love Autumn!

I have been making a lot of pumpkin cupcakes and cookies lately. I love cooking and baking with pumpkin. I am going to try out a new recipe this week for pumpkin soup and then after we carve our pumpkins I have a recipe for pumpkin seed brittle. I will let you know how they turn out.

I redecorated Sarah's helmet during the Saturday morning session of conference (which I especially enjoyed). The helmet turned out pretty stinkin' cute too! I will post pictures when David gets home with the computer.

Sarah has a funny new laugh that sounds SO fake. It's almost a cough, but she is actually laughing. It is pretty cute.

Sarah still LOVES the bath and now that she is in the big tub she has even more fun. She is all over the place! She likes to stand up and sit down and crawl around and play with her toys. She likes to throw her toys out of the tub and then stand up and lean over the edge and try to get them. She cries when I get her out every time. And all day she is trying to get into the bathroom so she can try to get in the tub. She's crazy about bath time!

Sarah is also walking so well while pushing her little walkers around. She is SO fast too...at crawling and walking. She acts like she is just going to take off running any day now.
She also figured out how to climb down stairs now (she has been climbing up them for a while). She loves going up and down the 2 steps out the french doors of the office/sunroom.

She claps when we clap or when we say "Yeah, Sarah!" Too cute!

Brody has been in preschool for 6 weeks now and loves it! There are 6 kids and each week we rotate houses so that each mom (or aunt!) will teach 2 days (Tuesday and Thursday) every 6 weeks. Well, this was my week to teach and it went really well. The kids were all really well behaved and did a pretty good job and following directions. They range in age from 2-4 so the younger kids are a little slower then the older kids, but they all have fun. Since the other kids all live in the SW, I taught at my mom's house and she has a great play room so the kids had a hard time wanting to come out of the playroom for school time.

We had a preschool field trip today to Grandpa's Farm and it was a lot of fun. They showed us all the animals, took us for a tracker ride, and had pumpkins for the kids to buy.

To be continued...
Coming up: the fair, Hanson, crafts, birthdays, home improvement, etc...

Grand Opening

I am a huge procrastinator. I have had a website for my photography for the past year and I don't believe I have even mentioned it on the blog. I have been taking pictures for the past couple of years and have always loved doing it. I have decided to push myself lately and have set some minor goals. I need a photo blog, more equipment, better direction with large groups, and better advertising. This is the start of it. Check it out.
