I never posted anything about coaching the girls frosh/soph
basketball team at East and I thought I probably should. Of 10 girls, only 2 had played basketball before, so it was definitely a year of learning. The girls were hilarious during the games when the referee's would call something and they would ask me why. During one game, the shot clock went off after I kept yelling, "shoot it, shoot it," and they all turned and asked, "what was that!" When I explained it, they were mad that I had never told them about it before. I just figured EVERYONE knew that. That is just one example, this happened all the time. Well, we went 0-14, but the girls got better and better each game and they had
fun, so I guess it was a good season. 14 Seniors graduated this year so it is a little scary to think that most of my team will be on Varsity next year, but I think they will step it up now that they know how the game works. It was interesting coaching while I was pregnant and the other coaches were impressed at how quickly I came back after having Sarah, but I think it was good for me and helped me heal faster and get back to normal. Until Sarah was at least a month, I would just leave her with David, Gaye, or my mom while I went to practice, but once she was a little older I just put her in the baby Bjorn or left her in the car seat during practice and she loved it. She also came to every game and usually slept through the whole game. My mom and Gaye took turns watching her at the games...they are
