Stake Rollerama Night

We had our annual stake Rollerama night this week and it was lots of fun! We went to the old one on 34th street.

This picture just looks cool.

Sarah's first time at Rollerama. She didn't care for the loud music (like her mother), but she was good the whole time. She hung out with Maribel while I skated. Thanks, Maribel!

David really worked up a sweat out there!

Meal Planning Follow -Up

So a while back I posted a blog about meal planning and how I had no idea where to start and how to go grocery shopping. Well, I finally figured it out and feel pretty good about it. This is what I do...Saturday I sit down with my Fix It and Forget It Cookbook (because I found that with a baby it is SO much easier for me to fix dinner in the morning while she sleeps) and find 5 meals that look good. I take into consideration what ingredients I already have on hand and try to find recipes that use a lot of what I already have in order to save money and use up our food. Then I make a list of all the ingredients I need and give it to David to go to the store. I tell him not to buy anything that is not on the list. He does a much better job of this than I would plus I HATE grocery shopping. Then I put a schedule on the fridge that says which recipe is on which day and the cookbook name and page #. Now, each morning, I just wake up, open up to the recipe of the day, and throw everything in the Crockpot. Also, since rice is pretty cheap and David likes it, I have been cooking rice in the rice cooker right before the meal is done and Voila!, we have dinner on the table around 6:00pm every night! Go me! Can you tell I am quite proud of myself?

After we try the meal we rate it out of 5 stars, 5 being the best. I also take notes so I remember what to do the same or different next time.

Valentine's Day

I had Brody on Valentine's Day and Chelsea dropped him off before David woke up so we made David breakfast in bed. We made PINK heart-shaped pancakes and PINK cream of wheat. Brody thought that was pretty cool. Then I spent all day making David's V-Day gift that took way longer than I thought it would and then even longer because David kept coming home and Brody needed to be entertained, but I got it done in the nick of time. David made dinner, rib eye steaks, baked potatoes, and grilled zucchini. It was SO good! After that we were going to drop Sarah off with Grandma Gaye and go to a movie (He's Just Not That Into You), but we were running late so we just hung out at David's parents house. They hosted dinner group that night so Gaye was excited to show off Sarah to all her friends. So we ended up watching Food Network with the family...not so romantic, but we did spend time with loved ones so it was a GREAT Valentine's Day overall.

David's Valentine's breakfast in bed.

Brody enjoyed the pancake scraps after cutting out the hearts.

I helped Brody make a V-day card for Chelsea and Mom (aka Grandma)

Cousins!

So this is what I made David for V-Day. It is a stack of cards with 52 reasons why I love David.

Here are just some of my favorites. Maybe I will post all of them another day.

Happy Birthday, David!

My man turned 27! David was 21 when we met so it's crazy that I have celebrated his last 6 birthday's with him. This year I wasn't sure if he was going to be home for his birthday or not so we didn't plan anything until last minute, but it turned out to be pretty fun. Gus and Jenna happen to be here celebrating Jenna passing her tests so that was fun. We went to Rusty's with family and some friends and then back to our house for a scrumptious cake that David made himself. I know what your thinking..."what kind of wife makes his husband bake his own birthday cake?" Well, David wanted to do it so I let him. And let me tell you, it was AMAZING cake. It was a Nigella recipe so how could you go wrong?! Here is the recipe if you want to try it for yourself.

Burrrrrr...

To save money on our PG&E bill, which was ridiculous the past 2 months, we turned off our heater. So it's a little cold in here. It got down to 54 before I finally decided that was too cold and set the thermostat to 60. The weather was warmer the last couple of days so the heater hasn't had to kick on. Actually, I just checked, and it is up to 65 in here now...nice. I hope the weather stays nice so our friends won't have to wrap up "cocoon" style when the come to our house anymore.

Happy 96th Birthday, Grandma Bunting!

February 9, 2009

Grandma Bunting's birthday is the day before David's so we celebrated at Uncle David's with some of Aunt Cherie's delicious food. She also made a yummy cake and had candles on there for Grandma and David, but unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) David was working for the railroad so he couldn't make it. I did get some pictures of Grandma B. with Sarah that we had been meaning to take since she was born.

All of the great grandkids, except Sarah, with Granny. It was hard enough to get all of the other kids to stand there for a picture so by the time I thought to put Sarah on Granny's lap, it was too late.

Sarah is Grandma Bunting's 9th great grandchild and Maryellen's (due in July) will make it an even 10!

Sweatin' to the 80's

January 8, 2009

This was Sarah's Sunday Valentine's outfit, but the headband I put on her looked a little like a sweatband.

Pizza Man!

Okay, so I make like the best pizza ever...well, maybe not, but its pretty good. Well, my mom was over the other day when I made pizza and decided to grab a piece on her way out. Well, after she took a bite she looked at her slice and this is what she saw...PIZZA MAN!

Totally unintentional and very cute. We just had to take a picture.

Football & Waxing

February 1, 2009 - Super Bowl Sunday

I know, I know...we usually don't watch sports on Sunday, but we do make an exception for the Super Bowl (judge all you want). The past 2 years we have gone to the Kirk's house to hang out with friends and eat A LOT of food. Scott and Shelley are so nice to have us all over and feed us and Shelley was SUPER awesome and waxed all of our hair off our faces! It was a good time.

Lots of babies!

Pretty!

I was a little nervous it was going to hurt, but it didn't!

That's a good look for ya, Kate!

What goes in, must come out!

Robin Hood

Another after-church photo op...

February 2, 2009

Sarah wore this cute sweater dress and cable knit tights to church and David kept calling her Robin Hood.

Chels, this is for you

January 31, 2009

My mom and I took Brody and Sarah to the mall the other day and saw this little boys shirt in the Lucky Brand store. It was like $45 dollars so I just took a picture.

By the way, I suggest you never go to the mall on a Saturday afternoon with a stroller and a 2 year old.

Day trip to Glendale

January 30,2009

Gaye had to take her laptop into the Apple store down in Glendale so David and I decided to take Sarah and tag along for a fun day of shopping. We had to go straight to the Galleria because Gaye had an appointment with the Mac people she had to make. As soon as we park David asks me if I brought the stroller. I didn't even THINK of bringing the stroller until he said that. I did bring the Baby Bjorn, but quickly realized the stroller would have been MUCH easier. Oh well...I got a good work out, or a sore back, whatever...it was fun. David had been telling me all about this "new" mall next to Galleria and I had no idea what he was talking about until I went down there. It is called the Americana at Brand and it is a big outdoor mall with lots of super nice stores that I can't afford but are fun to look through. There was even a trolley that went around the block and this chandelier that hung over the street. It was pretty nice and I suggest you all go there.

I had to sit for a minute and rest...she started to get really heavy.

We did end up buying a spatula at a cool kitchen store called Sur la Table.

Play Time...Bath Time

January 26, 2009

Sarah almost always wakes up in the morning all smiles.

David got her to hold on to her giraffe toy he got her for Christmas. Doesn't she look so excited about it?!

I always put her in the tub the right way (the long way) and right away she slips over to the side and puts her feet up over the other side and just lounges. She loves taking a bath...she always looks so relaxed.

Sunday Visits

January 25, 2009

Every Sunday we visit with our friends and family. This particular Sunday we went to Grandma Smeesh's and Katy's.

Visiting with Grandma "Smeesh"

Sarah and Carter holding hands...they did that all on there own.

Later that Same Day

January 25, 2009

After we changed out of our church clothes, we had another photo shoot because Sarah was so happy. She kept moving her hands in front of her face, but I did manage to get a few good ones. I took so many pictures that when I look at them all really fast it looks like she is leading music.

...and she's done.

After Church Photo Shoot

January 25, 2009

David was working out of town one Sunday so Sarah and I went off to church just the two of us. I was super late, but I did manage to get Sarah all dressed up in her cute dress and bow Uncle Jimmy bought her for Christmas. When we got home she was sleeping so I took her and put her in the Love Sac for a little photo shoot with David's camera. Here are just a few of my favorites.

She woke up.

Sarah Right Now

I know I have a lot of catching up to do, but for now, here is a picture of Sarah taken seconds ago.

Sleepy Girl

Sarah has been sleeping so good in her crib. The last couple of nights she has slept in there for 7 hours straight (from 12-7) and last night she slept from 12-8, woke up to eat, and then went back to sleep in my bed and is still sleeping! I LOVE it! I wonder if it is because it is so cold in our house she just wants to stay under the covers...because that is why I like to keep sleeping.

Pay it Forward

So my friend, Emily, is doing this pay it forward thing. So this is how it works..... The first 3 people to leave a comment on this will receive a hand made gift from me during this year. When and what will be a surprise. There's a small catch...You knew there would be didn't you? Post this on your blog then come back and leave a comment, telling me you're in. Fun, huh? Remember, only the first 3 comments receive the gift.

Street view

I am a fan of google maps especially the street view feature. (They have cars driving all over the place with a 360 degree camera on top then when you look up an address it shows you the photo they took outside) Every once and awhile someone tells me they have seen one, but i have never seen one of the cars up close. but my last trip to fresno i was walking back to my hotel room and came across this car in the parking lot.

It wasnt very exciting. just a laptop inside bolted to some plywood.
