So a while back I posted a blog about
meal planning and how I had no idea where to start and how to go grocery shopping. Well, I finally figured it out and feel pretty good about it. This is what I do...Saturday I sit down with my Fix It and Forget It Cookbook

(because I found that with a baby it is SO much easier for me to fix dinner in the morning while she sleeps) and find 5 meals that look good. I take into consideration what ingredients I already have on hand and try to find recipes that use a lot of what I already have in order to save money and use up our food. Then I make a list of all the ingredients I need and give it to David to go to the store. I tell him not to buy anything that is not on the list. He does a much better job of this than I would plus I HATE grocery shopping. Then I put a schedule on the fridge that says which recipe is on which day and the cookbook name and page #. Now, each morning, I just wake up, open up to the recipe of the day, and throw everything in the Crockpot. Also, since rice is pretty cheap and David likes it, I have been cooking rice in the rice cooker right before the meal is done and Voila!, we have dinner on the table around 6:00pm every night! Go me! Can you tell I am quite proud of myself?

After we try the meal we rate it out of 5 stars, 5 being the best. I also take notes so I remember what to do the same or different next time.
