Like Father, Like Daughter

In the morning, around 6:30 or 7, Sarah wakes up because the sun makes it too bright in her room. So I have been getting her and bringing her into our room to sleep some more while I get ready for the day. The other day I put her in our bed and since David had worked all night he was still sleeping so the 2 of them slept in bed together for about 3 hours and it was too cute to not take a picture. So I hope David forgives me for posting a picture of him sleeping.

Amelia likes when the sun comes into the baby's room.

Raining Leaves

For those of you who haven't been to our house, we have 2 MASSIVE trees. One in the front yard and one in the backyard. Well, the one out front drops its leaves over a period of a month or so in the fall, October and November. By the time we get all of the leaves picked up from that tree, the one out back starts to drop its leaves, starting the beginning of January or so. So for about a week, all I see out the back windows are leaves falling constantly. It seriously looks like its raining leaves all day. So here is what our backyard looks like now.

David put a tarp over the rock he's been collecting for the border around the tree so it would be easier to clean up, but I don't think it will make a difference.

i just thought this was a cool picture of leaves.

Mutual - Paper Globes

For mutual last Wednesday it was individual class activity night and since we hardly ever get a chance to have an activity just as a Beehive class I thought we should do something fun to chat and bond so we made paper globes. I got the idea from Aunt Cherie and she found it on Heather Bailey's Blog. The girls had a great time and made super cute paper globes for their rooms. Since then I have made 2 at home for Sarah...I think I am going to use them as her mobile. Anyway...here are some pictures of my cute little Beehives...I love them so much!

Sarah's 2 Month Check-up

Sarah went to the doctor today for her 2 month check-up and to start vaccinations. She was so happy most of the visit and only cried for a second after the shots. She got 3 shots and an oral vaccine. The nurse said she might not like the oral stuff, but she seemed to enjoy it. She just kept swallowing and then waiting for more. She was such a trooper...I am so proud of her.

She is now 23.5 inches long and weighs 11 lbs. 6 oz.

Sarah's Blessing

Sarah was blessed on January 4, 2009 in the College Heights Ward of the Bakersfield East Stake. In the circle stood David, Great-Grandpa "Smeesh" (Smith), Grandpa Bunting, and Uncle Jimmy. It was a very sweet blessing. I was a little overwhelmed at the amount of family who showed up...Sarah is going to be very loved. I do want to thank everyone who came to support us, it really meant a lot to us.

This is a picture of some of the family...it was kind of hectic after sacrament and half of the family left, which I totally understand.

This jewelry box was my Mom's when she was little. She fixed it up and gave it to Sarah on her blessing day and I know Sarah will always cherish it and love it.

We took more pictures of Sarah in her blessing dress, but again, they are from David's camera and I don't know how to get them so they will be posted later.

Visit with Grandpa & Grandma Fitzgerald

My Dad and Maureen came out for Thanksgiving and to visit Sarah. They arrived on Thanksgiving Day and stayed until the following Tuesday. We had a great time with them and wish they could be here more often or we could be there. It was Sarah's first week so we were busy getting her jaundice tests done and just getting into the swing of life with a baby and weren't able to visit a whole lot, but it was a good time nonetheless.
I know I took pictures while they were here, but I can't find them right now so I will have to post them later.

Christmas 2008

Christmas definitely felt different this year with our attention focused on our new little baby girl rather than on ourselves. We didn't buy a lot, but it was by far the best Christmas we've had since we've been married. We woke up and exchanged gifts with just the 3 of us. David got me a cook book for toddlers, some gloves, and a watch and I got him a tool set he's been wanting. The cat got a new collar and some feathered toys. David bought Sarah a giraffe toy, a scary monster doll, and a book called Little Miss Sunshine. It was a great morning. After we finished opening presents we got ready and headed over to David's parents house for more gift opening. I made Gaye a sign that said, "Grandchildren: God's gift for not killing your kids." I also made Jimmy a sign that said, "Never miss a good chance to Shut Up." I won't list all of the gifts we got, but David's big gift this year was his gun and my big gift was my Barcalounger. After gifts we went to the Faulkner's for a quick breakfast and then off to my Mom's house for more Christmas fun. I made my mom a sign that said, " Never have children, only Grandchildren." Chelsea got a sign that said, "Moms of boys are busy from Son up to Son down." And Dalton got a sign that said, "Whatever it is, it's better in the dirt." As you can tell by now I made signs for everyone for Christmas this year...it took a lot of time but was lots of fun. My mom got us a bigger Crock Pot this year which has already come in handy a few times. I used to have a 4qt. and this is a 6.5qt. From Mom's house we went to Grandma's for a bit and then off to Uncle David's. We always have fun with all the kids at Uncle David's house...they like to show off all their Christmas toys. After Uncle David's we went to a movie with my family...we saw "Yes Man." I thought it was pretty funny, besides one totally inappropriate scene. It was the first movie we took Sarah to and she was great. We went back to my Grandma's house after the movie to open more presents. My grandpa got us all popcorn makers this year which is awesome because as a kid we used to LOVE watching grandpa make popcorn and now our kids can enjoy it too. Well...it was a busy busy day, but we had a good time.

These are from Christmas Eve:
My mom always has us over for Christmas Eve and this year A. Debbie's family was in town so it was a crowd. We had an amazing dinner and opened our traditional pajamas from Grandma.
Ron and Jen bought Brody a container for his cars.

They bought Sarah a glow worm doll, which she loves! It plays music and lights up and she follows it and gets upset when it stops.

Christmas morning with our little family:

Christmas at David's parents':
Cute clothes for Sarah...thanks Uncle Jimmy!

The sign I made for Grandma Gaye.

I think Jimmy found his sign pretty funny.

Bullets for David's new gun!

Christmas at my Mom's:

Christmas at Uncle David's:
Ryan and Karrie's kids got new Carhart jackets, wranglers, boots, and hats for Christmas...it was pretty stinkin' cute! I couldn't get very good pictures of the kids because they were busy runnning around, but here's what I got

Napping with Aunt Alexis...Sarah loves the Villanueva's!

Ist Thanksgiving

Sarah's first Thanksgiving was a busy one. First David woke up and played football with a couple different groups of friends. Katy and Lucy came over and hung out while the men played and my mom took some pictures of Lucy and Sarah. When David got home he started cookin' the Turkey and my mom and I headed over to my Grandma's house. We hung out and had a great Thanksgiving dinner thanks to my Aunt Debbie and David. We went from Grandma's house to Uncle David's for dessert. It was a good day!

Sarah with her great grandma Smith.

Her long legs were a little cramped in her outfit so when we took it off she stretched her leg straight out in the air and held it there until we zipped her back up. It was pretty funny...well Sarah didn't think so.

The pictures of Sarah and Lucy are really cute but they are on the external hard drive and I don't feel like plugging it in right now so I will post those later.

An image I never want to forget

Nov. 27, 2008
This is not a very good picture, but it is an image I never want to forget. She used to be so messy when she nursed and when she was done she looked ridiculous. She's so cute!

Getting her hair washed

November 26, 2008
The first time we washed Sarah's hair at home...she LOVED it. She was so relaxed and sort of smiled while my mom ran warm water over her head.

Jaudice

Sarah's first week was filled with juandice test after jaudice test. I think she had 3 total. Here is her getting tested at the icky PAL downtown. I will never go there again. That test ended up wrong too and that's why I had to take her to get another one.

By 1 week old she was pretty much jaundice-free.

Sarah's First Doctors Visit

November 25,2008
At 2 days old Sarah went to Dr. Dinacola for her first checkup.

On the 28th we had to take her to the Pedi Center because the jaundice wasn't getting better yet. Here she is at the Pedi Center.

4 years of Wedded Bliss

I can't remember if I blogged about our anniversary or not, but I couldn't find a previous post about it so I will go ahead and blog now.
On November 19, 2008 David and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary. The traditional gift theme if flowers and/or fruit. So I made David a pumpkin cake with an apple cider glaze so I used 'flour' and fruit (pumpkin is a fruit) and I made him a card with a coupon for a pedicure from the Bunting Salon and I bought Apricot scrub to use for the pedicure. David bought me flowers and got me a blue tooth thing for the car. I must document for future reference that it was a re-gift from Craig Neville, but I enjoy it all the same. He also made me a card. We went out to eat at Bill Lee's and then went to watch the James Bond movie.

It has been an amazing four years of just the 2 of us, but I am excited for this new phase in our lives as parents. It will be a blast to raise our family together. David is the most amazing husband and I am so lucky to have him in my life and as the father of our children.

Making bows at Moms and Tots

On November 13, 2008 we got together for our weekly Moms and Tots group to make baby hair bows. At the time I didn't know if I was having a boy or girl so I made an teeny weeny orange and yellow bow just in case. I did orange and yellow because it matched all of the neutral clothes I had already been given.

See, look how cute it is...good thing I had a girl. That little bow took me forever, I would have hated to see it go to waste.

Katy's Baby Shower

Katy's baby shower was November 8, 2008, but since I was a little distracted with having my own baby I never got around to blogging about it. I didn't take a lot of pictures, but it was held at the Ridgeway Residence and was hosted by Jennifer and Myself.

The cute invitaions I made.

Here is the diaper wreath I made...it turned out pretty cute if I say so myself. However, the wreath I bought was so big that I had to use size 4 diapers to fit around it. So it will be a while before Carter fits into the diapers.

This picture kept turning sideways on its own every time I resized it. So if you tilt your head you will see Katy's stinkin' cute cake.

Cupcakes....mmmm....

Katy got some really cute things for Carter...here are just a couple.

I totally understand both sides now...

A friend of mine recently posted this article on her blog and I just had to post it on mine too because I totally understand both sides now...the "non-kids" side and the "crazy-where did the time go-have a baby" side. I used to constantly wonder why it was so hard for my friends with kids to get out of the house and come over or go shopping with me or whatever, but since I have had Sarah (and she is still small and not moving), I TOTALLY understand how different it is. So here is to all of you mom's out there, especially the ones I gave a hard time to...you know who you are. Hi, Kate! I get it now!

Sarah's Blessing

My mind just hasn't been working the way it used to so I decided to put a post up to announce to anyone who wants to attend Sarah's blessing that it will be:
Sunday, January 4th
9am
Bernard Building.

I sincerely apologize to anyone who did not get a verbal invite, but I would love to have all of our loved ones there.
