Ultrasound
We got to see our baby yesterday for the first time! I am 21 weeks now so it was time for my ultrasound appointment to measure the baby and check it out to make sure everything is ok. The baby was in a fetal position facing down the whole time so it was hard for the ultrasound tech to see everything. By the size of the baby I am right on with my due date so no changes there. We don't want to find out the sex of the baby so when she was checking out the bladder and other areas we all closed our eyes; it was me, David, my mom, and David's mom in the room. She was able to check most everything on her checklist, but a few things were not able to be looked at because of the position of the baby. The good news is that I get to go back for another ultrasound. It will probablly be in 4 weeks on the same day as my regular appointment. The lady did print us one picture of the baby and I will try to scan that and post it soon.
Idaho Trip Finale
Wednesday:
Mom, grandma, and I went to lunch with Shirlene and her 2 daughters, Lana and Sherry, and Onda and Jaime with her two little ones. We went to Friday's and had a great time visiting.
Me and my cousin Jaime. I never realized how much we looked alike until I saw this picture. I think we have the same eyes...they must be "Smith" eyes. **Jaime, if you are reading this let me know what your blog address is because I tried the one you told me and it isn't working**

Me, Sherry, Mom, Lana, Shirlene, and Grandma
Thursday:
We woke up early and drove to San Francisco. It only took us approximately 14 hours. We watched a couple movies, played Phase 10, stopped in Twin Falls and watched some base jumpers, and stopped in Battle Mountain, NV so Dalton could buy fireworks. We got to our hotel and then went to Boudin's for Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl...mmmm! We ended up eating there the next day for lunch and Saturday for breakfast and lunch too.
Friday:
We went to the aquarium, shopped on Pier 39, rode a trolley car from Ghiradelli Square to the other end by the BART station, we rode BART just for the sake of it, walked through Chinatown, and Dalton and Mom went to Ghiradelli Square. We squeezed every bit of San Fran into one day. I was just there in November for Maryellen's reception so it was fun to just show Dalton everything.

Saturday:
We went to Alcatraz! This was way fun, but unfortunately my camera battery went dead as soon as we got to the island so I only have a few pictures of the experience. It was only a 10 minute boat ride over to the island and from there we just had a map and walked around the island looking at all the old buildings and birds. There were TONS of birds! And it was baby season because there were baby seagulls and other birds EVERYWHERE! There was an audio tour of the cell house that was pretty cool. It guided you though the building and explained everything as you were looking at it. We even got to get in the isolation cells which were pitch black inside once the door was shut. It was just neat to learn so much about the island because I really didn't know anything about it before we went.
That is the oldest building on the island. It was used as a bowling alley during the time when the penitentiary was there.
This was the warden's 17 bedroom house right outside the prison. One of the "trusted" inmates served as his gardener/houseboy. I don't think I would have been comfortable with that.

After Alcatraz we did some last minute shopping, ate at Boudin's, and headed home just in time for Jimmy's mustache party. Oh, we also stopped in Concord on the way home to see the house my mom grew up in until 4th grade and her elementary school.

Idaho Trip Continued
Monday:
This was the day I was most excited about since I knew I was coming to Idaho this year. We went fly fishing on the Snake River! I really have no words that can describe how I feel on the river. I tried to capture it through pictures, but it just doesn't come close to the real thing. I love it out there!

This is where Chelsea and I were covered in ants when we were younger. Also, I think this is where I smashed my finger in the boat chair.

After fishing we came home to our hotel to rest and shower, but since the housekeepers were about to clean our room we went swimming for a bit until the room was clean. After showering and naps we decided to drive to Rexburg. We found my mom's old apartment that she lived in when she came to Rick's 24 years ago. I was able to stop by Alexis' apartment at BYU-I and visit with her for a few minutes. We went to the temple and took pictures. And Dalton was able to visit a motorsports store to get a little dirtbike fix. On the way back from Rexburg we stopped in Rigby at a place called Riot Zone to play putt putt golf and Dalton and Mom rode the Go Karts. I hadn't played miniture golf in a long time so I had a blast.

This is Dalton trying to hit his ball out of the bushes.
Tuesday:
Today we went to Jackson, WY with Grandma. It was absolutely BREATHTAKING! The ride there, the town itself, and the ride home (we went a different way). We shopped around for a while, ate lunch, shopped some more, and then Mom and Dalton went down the Alpine Slide. The Alpine Slide is a slide down the mountain. A ski lift takes you up and then you get on a sled thingy and ride down. They can control how fast or slow they go. Grandma and I sat and watched, and took a couple pictures of course. We headed home when they were done with that and then Grandpa took us to see "Son of Rambow" at the really old theatre downtown. He said the theatre is old than him because he remembers going there as a kid. It was a cute movie, different, but cute.
So, how have I been feeling? Not too good. I haven't had an appetite for a couple of days and anything I eat doesn't seem to stay down for very long. I am not letting it stop me from having fun and doing what I want to do, but it is getting a little old.

Sunday, July 6
Sunday:
Today was a great day! I woke up and went to church with grandpa and it was a really nice testimony meeting, but the drive home was what was so awesome. I was driving the Yukon and just as I pulled away from grandma and grandpa's condo the back window popped open for some reason. At first I thought, well, I will just get out and close it, but as I drove a little ways I realized that the breeze felt good (it was about 65 degrees this morning) so I just left it. Then I decided to drive by the temple on my way back to the hotel and it was just so peaceful to drive by myself around the temple and as I got closer to the falls I could hear the water and everything was so clean and serene. It was one of the most peaceful moments I have ever had.
Anyway...the rest of the day was full of visiting family. We went to Aunt Shirlene's (my grandma's sister) for a nice visit and looked at tons of old pictures of everyone and then to Aunt Onda and Uncle Brent's (my grandpa's brother) for a fish fry. I have so many great memories of Onda's house that as soon as we walked in the smell of the basement and then the fish made tears well up in my eyes. I know, it sounds wierd, but some of my best times were spent at that house with Onda. After we left Onda's we went out to Aunt Marny's (my grandpa's sister) house and all of her kids and their kids were there so we got to see their whole family. My poor brother was bored all day having to sit and visit with people he doesn't remember so he got to pick an activity for tonight and he picked bocce ball, so my mom and Dalton went to the falls to play for a while. It was a pretty good day!

On the way out to Ririe, we drove by the house that my grandpa grew up in.

This used to be the LDS church when my grandpa was young. Now it is a wedding chapel and reception hall.

The summer I spent with my cousins Jaime and Stacey, we floated down this canal almost every day. They call it the Farmer's Friend here.

My Aunt Shirlene's dog had puppies and they looked like baby piglets.

My mom, Aunt Shirlene, my grandma, and me.

The one thing I always remember about my Aunt Shirlene's is jumping on the trampoline.

My mom with her cousin Ben, Shirlene's son.

Aunt Onda is ALWAYS taking pictures of everyone.

Hanging out on the back porch.

Uncle Brent and mom.

Idaho Trip Continued
Thursday:
We left Vegas at 7:30am and got into Idaho Falls at 5:30pm. We went straight to our hotel and then out to dinner at my favortie restaurant here, Jakers. They have the best calamari and instead of bread, they bring scones and honey butter to the table. After dinner we went walking around the falls and then back to the hotel for the night.

Friday:
Friday morning Grandpa took Dalton shooting. After they had been gone for a little while we got a call from Dalton saying they were going to the emergency room. We were worried at first, but after we found out what happened and saw that he was okay it was actually pretty funny. He was loooking throught the scope and the gun kicked back and hit him between the eyes. He had to get 3 stitches. For those of you who don't know my brother very well, he gets hurt ALL THE TIME (mostly from racing his dirtbike). He has more scars than anyone I know. So it wasn't surprising that we ended up in the urgent care on vacation. After Dalton got his stitches we went to the mall and I was on a mission for the perfect bra. Only 3 hours and 60 bras later, I found one! The lady who helped me in Macy's was amazing! Turns out I am a wierd size and they don't make very many bras in that size so it was a little difficult. Anyway...after the mall we took naps and then went to Chili's for dinner. While we were at dinner we saw a Smart car across the street so after we finished eating we went to look in the windows when the owner showed up. He was so nice. My family had a million questions about it and even wanted to sit in it and they guy hung out with us for like 20 minutes and answered all their questions and let us all sit in it. It was a pretty cool car. Later that night, we took a blanket down to the river and found a spot on the grass, which was hard to do because it was packed full of people. You can't tell from the picture below, but there were A TON OF PEOPLE lining both sides of the river and filling in any other available space in town where they could see the fireworks. The show was definetly worth all the hype. I had seen it years ago, but didn't remember it being that good. It was AMAZING! It was 30 minutes of non-stop fireworks. I think it caused my migraine though; lying on the blanket with my neck in a wierd position, the lights, the noise, the smoke. Whatever it was I have had a migraine ever since, a BAD one. It is the most painful, nauseating thing I have ever gone through. Hopefully it is totally gone by tomorrow.

Saturday:
Today I didn't get going until 1pm because my migraine was SO bad. I tried taking tylenol like 4 times, but could keep anything down...it was awful. Finally I took the tylenol with some Coke and that seemed to help a little...I was able to get up and get out of the hotel. We walked around the falls and into downtown and then went to lunch at Papa Kelsey's...it was terrible food. We then went to several craft stores so that I could buy 4th of july decorations on sale for girls camp (our stake theme is "Steadfast like the stars" so our ward theme is "Star-spangled sisters"). After shopping I went and hung out at the condo with grandma and grandpa until we went to dinner at Smitty's. After dinner we decided to go out to Reed's dairy for icecream and to look at the animals. I think it is so cool that they will still deliver milk to your home.

Idaho Trip
Well, my mom, brother and I set out for Idaho on Wednesday, July 2nd. My mom and Dalton and had planned on going for awhile and I wasnt' sure if I would be able to go because of work, but since I didn't pass my test and am no longer working I COULD GO! I was so excited. My grandparents come 'home' to Idaho every summer to see family and get away from the heat of Bakersfield so as kids we came up almost every summer for a week or two, but I haven't been in a long time so it is so fun to drive around and see things and smell things that bring back so many good memories. We usually drive straight through to Idaho Falls, it's about 14 hours, but this time we left Bakersfield around 1pm and stopped in Vegas for the night so we could walk around and see the flowers at Bellagio. I LOVE BELLAGIO! If anyone has never seen the flowers or the water show, they should definetly plan on going sometime because it is "magical." Here are some pictures of Bellagio, but its hard to do it justice in pictures.

I attempted to get a picture of the whole room and this is what I got.

A "mini" Mount Rushmore with a model train going by. There were several trains going around the room though different tunnels and stuff.

Here's a UP train!

These baby eagles were actually quite huge and they were up above everything in a nest.

The little water show was in the middle this time and these hydrangeas were gorgeous.

Here's a big train all made of flowers and other natural things. By the way, everything in there is made from nature.

This was cool. It is a "mini" Bellagio and was actually pretty detailed with the water show in front and everything.

This tree guy was cute too...he was kind of like the one from the fall flower display if anyone saw that post from last year.
I will post more later.
